Our Story
Westbrook was born out of frustration. I’m Richard, the founder of Westbrooks -and a lifelong lover of good beer. As an ex-professional racing driver, I’ve had to take my nutrition seriously. But when I wanted a proper-tasting, low-carb beer in the UK, I kept hitting a wall. I’d resort to importing beers from the U.S., but they were expensive and didn’t always hit the mark.
After years of searching (and drinking), I finally decided to create my own solution. With the help of an expert team, I made a lot of trial and error, and a clear mission, Westbrooks Brewery came to life - dedicated to brewing real beer that happens to be low in carbs and gluten-free
Our Brewing Process
We work with James, one of the best up-and-coming brewers in the country, to create our beers at a dedicated brewery in Suffolk. While I leave the mashing and hopping to him, I’m closely involved in shaping the recipe and overall taste. Laguna took over three years to perfect, and we're proud of the result: a clean, hoppy pale ale with just 1g of carbs per can.
We use a combination of specialist mashing techniques and unique yeast strains to reduce carbs by up to 95%, all without compromising the taste. It’s a labour of love - but worth it.
